MSC Ben Smith, attached to the South East Basic Command Unit, appeared at Woolwich Crown Court on Wednesday, 7 February, when the case was discontinued by the Crown Prosecution Service. This followed a report of a sexual assault alleged to have taken place off duty in April 2017 and reported to the Met in 2022.<br

A Metropolitan Police Special Constable has been acquitted of sexual assault.

MSC Ben Smith, attached to the South East Basic Command Unit, appeared at Woolwich Crown Court on Wednesday, 7 February, when the case was discontinued by the Crown Prosecution Service.

This followed a report of a sexual assault alleged to have taken place off duty in April 2017 and reported to the Met in 2022.

Now that criminal proceedings have concluded, misconduct matters will be considered. MSC Smith remains suspended from duty.
