A serving Met officer has been charged with assault by beating.
PC Jonathan Marsh, attached to East Area Command Unit, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 6 June.
On 13 November 2022, PC Marsh was called to an incident of criminal damage on Atlanta Boulevard, Romford.
Force was used to arrest a man who was mistakenly identified as the suspect. He was later de-arrested at the scene.
The incident was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct which carried out an independent investigation, leading to PC Marsh being charged.
He is currently on restricted duties.
