Police are appealing for witnesses and any footage following a collision in Gants Hill.

At approximately 15:30hrs on Monday, 26 June a car that had failed to stop for police was in collision with a moped in Cranbrook Road at the junction of Martley Drive, Ilford.

London Ambulance Service attended and the rider of the moped – a man aged in his 20s – was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital; his condition was initially deemed critical but is now stable and not thought to be life-threatening. However, it may potentially be life-changing. His next of kin are aware.

The driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving; he is not seriously injured and will be taken into police custody.

There were no reports of any other injuries.

Officers investigating the collision are keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident or the events leading up to, including any road users who may have captured the collision on dashcam.
