27 June 2023 09:26 UPDATE: Two people remanded following murder of Nelly Akomah Croydon Pires has been remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 28 June. Feliciano was also remanded and she will appear at the old Bailey on Monday, 24 July.

A man and a woman have been remanded to appear at the Old Bailey as part of an investigation into the murder of Nelly Akomah in Croydon.

Hugo Da Silva Pires, 28 (08.12.94), of Fernham Road, Thornton Heath was charged on Sunday, 25 June with murder, burglary and fraud.

Catia Feliciano, 31 (31.07.91), of Fernham Road, Thornton Heath, was charged with fraud and perverting the course of justice.

Both were arrested at Stanstead Airport on Friday, 23 June and appeared in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 26 June.

Pires has been remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 28 June.

Feliciano was also remanded and she will appear at the old Bailey on Monday, 24 July.

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command began an investigation after the body of 76-year-old Nelly Akomah was found at a residential property in Ladbrook Road at around 10:40hrs on Wednesday, 21 June.

Nelly’s family has been informed of this development and they will continue to be supported by family liaison officers.
