Detectives investigating the circumstances leading up to the murder of Darren Augustine in Brentford have released images of a man they want to identify.

Darren, 44, died following an incident at an address in Brentwick Gardens, TW8 in the early hours of 26 April.

The man police want to identify was with Darren – they were attempting to gain entry with the intent to carry out a burglary at the address at the time Darren was stabbed and killed.

Detective Inspector Jason Fitzpatrick from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said:

“My team continues to work tirelessly to piece together the facts about what happened in the early hours of 26 April and the events that culminated in Darren’s death.

“CCTV analysis has confirmed this man was with Darren and attended the flat in Brentwick Gardens – we need to know who he is and I would urge anyone who knows his identity to come forward and speak to police.”

Ten people – seven men and three women – from inside the flat were arrested on suspicion of murder during the initial stages of this investigation. All have been released with no further action and continue to assist with the investigation.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on Monday, 1 May on suspicion of Darren’s murder and has been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in early August.
