22 September 2023 19:45 Arrest made in Haringey murder investigation Detectives have named a 53-year-old man who died following a stabbing in Hairngey.

Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Haringey have made an arrest.

A 32-year-old man was arrested on Friday, 22 September on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

A murder investigation was launched after police were called by London Ambulance Service at 04:00hrs on Tuesday, 19 September to Upper Tollington Park, N4 following reports of a stabbing.

Officers responded and found a man with injuries.

Despite the best efforts of police and paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and formal identification has taken place. The deceased is Brian Edwards, 53, from Haringey.

A post-mortem examination took place on Wednesday, 20 September and gave cause of death as stab injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector Lucy Carberry, Specialist Crime, leads the investigation and said: “This arrest marks a significant development in our quest to secure justice for Brian’s family. However, we remain keen to speak to anyone who was in the area and witnessed this incident, or anyone who can help shed background on the events that led to the attack on Brian to come forward. You’re information could prove to be vital in helping us further this investigation and provide the answers Brian’s family deserve.”
