22 September 2023 17:58 Collaborative working between local and specialist offers leads to stolen Ferrari being recovered Local officers working in tandem with specialist units investigating an organised car theft ring have recovered a stolen Ferrari.

A supercar has been recovered by officers investigating an organised car theft gang.

Officers from specialist units have been working with local teams after a number of high-value car thefts in London.

On the morning of Tuesday, 19 September, police received a report that a Ferrari 812 car had been stolen from outside a property in Delaware Road, Westminster.

On the same day, at approximately 23:15hrs, officers from Westminster observed a vehicle in Westbourne Park Road, W11 which appeared to be the Ferrari that had been reported as stolen.

The driver fled from the vehicle and a foot chase followed – a 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

He was then further arrested on suspicion of going equipped to steal and possession of a knife.

The man has since been charged with all these offences.

Detective Chief Inspector Dean Purvis, from Central West Local Investigations, said: “This is a good example of local officers from Westminster working hand-in-glove with the Met’s specialist units to identify and locate those we believe are involved in vehicle thefts.

“The Met is determined to transform how we deliver for Londoners and this includes responding to local priorities, such as vehicle theft.”
