21 December 2023 10:58 Officer dismissed following misconduct hearing A police constable has been dismissed without notice for accessing police computers without a legitimate policing purpose.

An officer who accessed police computers without a reason to do so has been dismissed from the Met.

PC Mohammed Sardar, attached to the East Basic Command Unit, was found to have breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in relation to discreditable conduct.

Following an IOPC-led investigation, a misconduct hearing was held on Wednesday, 20 December which heard that between 2018 and 2021 PC Sardar accessed police computers to obtain information about investigations without a policing purpose.

He pleaded guilty to offences under the Computer Misuse Act at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 22 September and will be sentenced on 8 January 2024.

Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell, local policing commander for east London, said: “We set the highest standards for our officers and Sardar’s actions were wholly unacceptable.

“We are committed to ensuring that our officers and staff comply with the Information Code of Conduct as this outcome demonstrates.”

The former officer will now be added to the Barred List held by the College of Policing. Those appearing on the list cannot be employed by police, local policing bodies (PCCs), the Independent Office for Police Conduct or His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.
