Detectives investigating a fatal stabbing in Hackney on Boxing Day have charged a man with murder.
Jurejs Vankovs, 38 (14.05.85) of no fixed address, was charged on Tuesday, 2 January with the murder of Michael Murphy. He was also charged with possession of a bladed article.
He will appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 3 January.
An investigation was launched after Michael – who was 49 years old – was found with fatak stab wounds in Cranwood Street, EC1 in the early hours of Boxing Day.
His next of kin continue to be supported by specially trained officers.
