19 April 2024 11:58 Arrest made in Croydon murder investigation A man has been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of 22-yr-old Rijkaard Siafa in Croydon.

Detectives investigating the murder of 22-year-old Rijkaard Siafa in Croydon have made an arrest.

In the early hours of Friday, 19 April, a 34-year-old man [B] was arrested at an address in Lambeth on suspicion of murder – he remains in custody at a south London police station.

Rijkaard’s family have been updated with this development and continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command leads the investigation and said:

“While this arrest marks a significant development in our investigation, I am still appealing to anyone with information about Rijkaard’s murder to come forward.

“We have had a great response from the local community and I would like to thank those who have helped us so far. However, if you saw or know something that could assist I would urge you to get in touch immediately.”

The investigation was launched after police were called at around 18:00hrs on Friday, 12 April to reports of a man who had been stabbed in Fellmongers Yard, Croydon.

A number of members of the public attempted to provide first aid, before police, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance arrived at the scene.

Despite their efforts, Rijkaard died at the scene.

A post-mortem examination took place on Thursday, 18 April and gave cause of death as multiple stab wounds.

= A 20-year-old man [A] was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder – he has been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in mid-June.
