Police investigating a serious unprovoked assault in Hackney have released footage of a man they’re working to trace.

Police were called at around 19:00hrs on Friday, 11 November.

It was reported that the victim – a 27-year-old man – and a friend had been walking on the Regent’s Row Walkpath near the play area behind Regent’s court, Pownall Road E8, when they were approached by a man unknown to them.

The man launched an unprovoked attack on the victim, punching him to the floor. He said “do you think you’re hard?” before leaving the scene.

The victim went to hospital for treatment to cuts to his face and a broken eye socket. Due to the severity of the injuries it is suspected the suspect may have used a knuckleduster.

Officers from the Central East Command Unit have conducted various enquiries and are now turning to the public for help identifying the man.
