Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a woman was stabbed after a party on a boat in Newham in July.

Police were called at shortly after 05:00hrs on Sunday, 16 July to reports of a woman suffering a stab injury to her leg on the footpath by the River Lea Canal, E15.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. The woman, aged 36, was taken to hospital for treatment; her condition was assessed as not life threatening.

Detective Constable Ben Taylor, investigating officer, said: “We believe the victim was leaving a party that had been held on a boat when she walked past a group of men and then felt a sharp pain in her leg.

“She realised she had been stabbed but the suspect had left the scene. Our enquiries are ongoing but I urge anyone who was there, especially at the event, and may have captured images and video, to make contact with us immediately.”

The suspect is described as black, 6ft 2in tall, with dreadlocks.

There has been no arrest.
