Details

An exchange of correspondence between the Social Security Advisory Committee’s (SSAC’s) Chair and the Minister for Social Security and Disability (MfSSD) about the introduction of a capital disregard for infected blood compensation payments coming from the estate of a deceased infected person. This ensures that beneficiaries in receipt of means-tested benefits are able to receive this compensation and remain on benefits if they choose to do so.

Following careful consideration of the draft proposals and accompanying evidence at its meeting on 11 September 2024, the Committee has decided that, under the powers conferred by Section 173(1)(b) of the Social Security Administration Act 1992, it does not intend to take these regulations on formal reference.
