20 July 2023 14:00 Victim of Brent murder named as investigation continues A special post-mortem examination held on Tuesday, 18 July gave cause of death as a stab wound to the abdomen.

Detectives investigating a fatal stabbing of a teenager in Brent have named the victim as the investigation continues.

Police were called to Granville Road, NW6, at 23:22hrs on Friday, 14 July following reports of a fight in the street and a person stabbed.

Officers attended along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service. Despite the efforts of emergency services, a teenager died at the scene.

He has been named as 17-year-old Claudyo Jauad Lafayett. His family has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A special post-mortem examination held on Tuesday, 18 July gave cause of death as a stab wound to the abdomen.

Another male, also believed to be 17 years old, was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

A woman, aged in her early 20s, received hospital treatment for an injury to her hand and has since been discharged.

Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are investigating.

On Saturday, 15 July, an 18-year-old man [A] was arrested on suspicion of murder. He has been released on bail.

On Monday, 17 July, officers arrested two men – both aged 18 years old. They have also been released on bail.

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, who is leading the investigation, said: “Although we have arrested three people in connection with this murder, I am certain that there is more information that will help our investigation. I urge anyone who is yet to come forward to please speak with us.

“A birthday party has ended in tragedy, and a family has been left mourning the loss of a young man who had his whole life ahead of him.
