30 June 2023 15:40 Man jailed for manslaughter in Edgware Fabian Botca has been jailed for four and a half years for the manslaughter of Marian Cioclu in Edgware.

A man has been jailed after admitting to manslaughter following the death of Marian Cioclu in Edgware.

Fabian Botca, 40 (17.04.83) of Manor Park Gardens, Edgware appeared at Harrow Crown Court on Friday, 30 June where he was sentenced to four years and six months’ imprisonment.

Botca had pleaded guilty to manslaughter at the same court on Monday, 24 April.

An investigation was launched after police were called by the London Ambulance Service at around 15:00hrs on Sunday, 19 March, to reports of a man found with a serious head injury on Station Road in Edgware.

Marian – aged 39 – was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died in hospital on Thursday, 23 March.

Officers began looking for CCTV opportunities and identified Botca as attacking Marian. While in the local area on 21 March carrying out further CCTV enquiries, officers saw Botca and followed him back to his home.

He was arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm – following Marian’s death the charge was amended to manslaughter.

Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen led the investigation and said: “This was a violent attack that left Marian with significant head injuries; despite the medical attention he received he died from his injuries in hospital.

“Florian Botca has never admitted why he attacked Marian leaving his family searching for answers – the pair were not known to each other and our investigation could not establish a motive.”
