A statement from local policing commander Seb Adjei-Addoh following the murder of Johanita Kossiwa Dogbey in Brixton.

“The tragic murder of Johanita Kossiwa Dogbey in Brixton has had a significant impact on the community and my thoughts are with her family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

“Officers have worked around the clock since Monday to investigate what happened and gather evidence. Their work has resulted in a man being charged and remanded in custody. It is important there is now no commentary which could in any way prejudice future legal proceedings.

“Tacking violence on the streets of London, including attacks on women and girls, is a priority for the Met.

“Our community engagement team in Lambeth has been speaking with local partners, including youth and women’s groups, to ensure we are having the right conversations with those we serve and we will continue to do this in the weeks and months to come.”

As part of our work to tackle Violence Against Women and Girls, we would like to hear about areas where you don’t feel safe.

You can report these using the SteetSafe app. Always call 999 in an emergency.
