18 March 2024 06:00 Appeal for witnesses after fatal collision in Ilford A 46-year-old male pedestrian died in hospital after a collision with a car.

Police are appealing for witnesses or any drivers with dashcam footage after a fatal collision in Ilford.

Emergency services were called to Ley Street, at the junction of Benton Road, Ilford, at 00.18hrs on Sunday, 17 March to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

A 46-year-old man was found with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital, where he died a short time later.

Hi next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The car had left the scene before police arrived.

Enquiries were carried out by officers from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit and the car, a Range Rover, was located at a garage in Ilford

A 28-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. They have been taken into custody.

Any witnesses, or anyone who was driving in the Ley Street area at the tie of the collision is asked to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 44/17Mar, or Crimestoppers, 100 per cent anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
