An officer has been dismissed following a misconduct hearing

PC Deniz Ali, attached to North Area BCU, was found to have breached the codes of conduct in relation to discreditable conduct.

The allegations were found proven as Gross Misconduct on Tuesday, 22 November and the decision was that PC Ali should be dismissed.

The hearing follows PC Ali’s conviction for assault at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 27 July. He was sentenced to a 12-month Community Service Order and required to pay compensation to both victims, of £150, and the court costs of £630.

Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines, commander of the North Area Basic Command Unit, said: “Our officers should have no doubt as to what is expected of them and it clear the actions of PC Ali did not align with the high standards we set.

“The powers given to us as officers must be used fairly and correctly and when this does not happen, officers should expect to be held to account.”

PC Ali will now be added to the Barred List held by the College of Policing. Those appearing on the list cannot be employed by police, local policing bodies (PCCs), the Independent Office for Police Conduct or Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.
